GREAT LAKES

This morning, pick up your bike and head to the streets and roads of Minnesota. From the hills to the mountains, the State of Minnesota is a green, natural region, with amazing colors in the autumn and the magical northern lights. Head north following the Great River Road until you reach Brainerd. This town had an important role in the anti-conventional movie Fargo, by the Coen Brothers, and it's where you will spend the night.

Take Hwy 38 outside Grand Rapids and enjoy the scenic byway, following the route that the travelers used in the past to cross the Chippewa National Forest. Continue along the hills and the lakes and arrive to the small town of Effie. From here, head to Virginia, in the Mesabi region, where you will spend the night.

Today you will be riding on a truly unique road, following the northern shore of Lake Superior. Cross the area of Little Marais, Silver Bay and Beaver Bay. The area includes eight national parks and has some truly extraordinary natural beauties, such as the waterfalls in the Tettegouche State Park. The towns along the road offer restaurants specialized in fish, and there are also plenty of galleries and interesting shops. Today's destination is Duluth, named after the French explorer Daniel de Greysolon, Sieur du Lhute, who arrived to this land in 1679. Overnight stay.
